2013, Mixed Feelings Anyone?

As all people in the whole world must know, unless they've been sleeping under a rock for a while, 2012 is so totally "last year" and 2013 is so totally "this year".
Now I was thinking, "Do I really want a new year already?"
For me, 2012 went fast enough for me and if the pattern continues, this year will go even faster! 2013 comes with mixed feelings for me though, because as I reflected on the past year, I wondered if I did enough. Did I make a difference in anybody's life? Was I kind enough to that one person who is almost never included or accepted? Did I spend an adequate time with God? With my family? Friends? Schoolmates?
I didn't want the new year, I just wanted it to be the same old 2012 so that I could fix up the mistakes not feel so guilty about what I did in the past time.
What did I do? I blogged, ate, slept, went to school, tweeted on my personal account under my real name, read, wrote, played with my dog, went to church, spent time with my friends.
If you think about it, that's not much. I want to do something big this year, maybe something that will make a difference.
I'm gonna start with spending more time with God. Not "just enough" time, but much more time than I have been! Maybe I'll try to blog more, try more new things as they come up, tweet less, read more of a variety, finish a novel, not complain about going to church.
Maybe I could try to hang out with new people, and try to include the un-included. I want to be kind to everyone, not just the people I like, or the people who are nice to me, but everybody. Including the people that are hard to get along with or that I don't particularly like.
So my goal this year is not to regret the time between now and next New Years next year! I don't want to do the same old boring stuff.

This is my idea for 2013:
Once a month, I'll take a dare (something that is reasonable and that I can do without hurting myself), something I've never done before and try to experience something new. But I need suggestions from you because I can't come up with my own dare, right?
If I can get at least three this month, I'll be happy and I'll put them on a pole so you can vote on the once you want me to do! Please put your dares in the comments below, it would make me so happy!
I promise I'll let you know how it goes, you will hear from me and if you don't you can hold me accountable! Give me any reasonable dare and we'll vote on it :D

Happy New Year!
July

  1. I dare you to go to any student in your school that you've never talked to before and strike a conversation.

    1. Aww, I always visit Hilda! :D
I don't understand why they don't visit, you have a great blog and you're a published author!
Oh, that sounds scary...... I'll definitely consider it!

    2. Nah, you don't have to eat the pepper. How about... post an entry about your favorite teacher?

Aw, thank you so much July! <3 I don't know why either. Maybe I have bad luck, that's why no one else visits my blog?

  5. I really like this post :) and I feel sort of the same way, that I wish I could say "Oh, yeah, 2012, that was the year that I did something meaningful."

A dare...um, hmm, how about sharing your NaNo novel to at least five other people?

    2. I don't know if I'm allowed to suggest another, but I thought of a dare...
Wear a Santa hat to school and keep it on all day just one some random day that doesn't relate to Christmas.

    3. Oh you can suggest as many as you want! But sadly, I can't do that because at my school, we are not allowed to wear hats during the day :( Good idea though!

  6. Ooh, dares. *rubs hands together and laughs evilly* There's so much I could make you do. Give me some time to figure something out, though.

Oh, and, doll, you have a typo. (: "I'll be happy and I'll put them on a pole so you can vote..." Unless you're planning on sticking the dares on a flagpole, I think you meant "poll." (:

  7. I cannot think of any dares... but I want to say it's awesome the amount of people/bloggers I've seen with resolutions to spend more time with God! That makes me super happy because it's one of my goals as well.

I wish you luck on all your goals, and on all of your dares!

    :)

  8. First off you didn't spend enough time with friends. At all. I'll think of a dare, and it won't KILL you... Although I cannot promise it won't wound you. I'll have to think of some.
For this New Years there are things I think you should do: 1)spend more time with me. I miss my best friend. 2)come to my church. I mean even though all of my (imagineary) friends who go there will be jealous ;-). 3) sleep over. Please?

For a dare (don't worry I'll think of more) I dare you to pier jump. Just once (when it's summer time). Another dare (that you probably can't die from, even though not THAT many people die from pier jumping) is join my church drama. Not like every skit every week, just one skit. And you most likly won't know anyone your performing in front of. I'll think of more just you wait.

  9. I'll think about it, definitly spending more time, BUT I have one thing: NO PIER JUMPING! It sounds fun, but I don't want to die or get in trouble so I have to stick to my guns on this one, sorry ;D

  10. I won't let you die and neither will josh. An there are some piers where it's legal, and if you don't tell your parents you can't get in trouble, so why worry? I still have to think of more dares... What are you afraid of? ;-) not that I would base a dare off of that;-)

    1. You mean Phoenix? Who's Josh? It's not my parents, it's me. I won't be going pier jumping and that's final! :P

    2. Fine. Phoenix won't let you die either, but josh is Phoenix's red headed friend. He's on the swim team, I usually call him ginger.... Shouldn't you know him? I think you have early onset Alzheimer's my friend ;-)
