Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Heyyyya friends! So I've seen this tag floating around on the blogosphere lately, and I decided to do it myself! Happy reading!

A POPULAR BOOK
YOU DIDN'T LIKE.
MY ANSWER: IF I STAY BY GAYLE FORMAN

I found this book terribly boring and was quite disappointed considering all of the hype it had. I couldn't relate to the main character, had trouble feeling any sense of sympathy for her, and frankly, I didn't care whether she decided to stay or go.

A POPULAR AUTHOR
YOU CAN'T SEEM TO GET INTO.
MY ANSWER: JOHN GREEN

I hate his characters, his plots, the way his books are written, and basically everything about them. Granted, I haven't read all of his books but in my opinion, John Green novels are highly overrated and not worth the time or money.

A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE THE PROTAGONIST ENDED UP WITH THE PERSON YOU DIDN'T WANT THEM TO BE WITH.
MY ANSWER: GALE --> KATNISS <-- PEETA

I was not happy with how this love triangle turned out. Of course I can't explain much (because spoilers!) but in the end, one boy "won" Katniss and the other was made out to look like a bad person. Even if the two I wanted together couldn't be together, the author should have resolved it in a different way where they could still be friends.

A POPULAR GENRE YOU HARDLY READ.
MY ANSWER: MYSTERY

I rarely read mystery books because I can never wait to figure out "who did it" so I always turn to the last pages and read those first..... And that kind of ruins the suspense for the rest of the book! Oops.

A POPULAR/BELOVED CHARACTER
YOU DISLIKE.
MY ANSWER: HAZEL GRACE LANCASTER

I'll keep this one brief because I know I've ranted about Hazel more than once on this blog.... In short, I think she's whiny, hypocritical, and overall not a good representation of someone battling cancer.

A POPULAR SERIES YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING.
MY ANSWER:  THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS BY CASSANDRA CLARE

I've heard great things about these books from a few of my friends, but I honestly think they look kind of cheesy in a completely dark way (does that even make sense???? Lol). So just no.

A SHOW/MOVIE ADAPTION THAT YOU LIKED BETTER THAN THE BOOK.
MY ANSWER: THE GIVER BY LOIS LOWRY

I think The Giver movie is the ONLY movie I have ever liked better than the book. They honestly changed a whole ton in the movie, but the changes made it more exciting while still getting the lessons from the book across. The movie was just so well done, I couldn't help but love it!

A BOOK SERIES EVERYONE HATES BUT YOU SEEM TO LOVE.
MY ANSWER: TWILIGHT BY STEPHANIE MEYER

Twilight gets so much animosity, but I honestly don't understand why. I thought it was well written, intriguing, and easy to read. I considered it to be a good story with lovable characters, and was actually kind of hard to put down and stop reading! Of course it isn't my favorite book of all time, but I just don't think people should hate on it so much.

 A POPULAR SUBJECT
YOU'RE TIRED OF READING.
MY ANSWER: LOVE TRIANGLES.

Nearly every YA book contains a love triangle these days, and it's been getting old for a while now. Need I explain more?? I don't think so.

A POPULAR STYLE OF COVER YOU HATE.
MY ANSWER: REMADE BOOK COVERS FROM CLASSICS

Especially in classics, I like my original covers. Why would you even try to change these??

Okayyyyy, well that's all I have for you tonight. Let me know what unpopular book opinions you have in the comments below, and if you would like to do this tag on your blog, go right ahead! Make sure you let me know so I can read your post :)

On a side note, I get to see the Stanley Cup tomorrow, so that's pretty exciting.... :D

  1. I definitely agree that the whole Gale, Katniss, Peeta thing did not go how I wanted it to. They made him look like a jerk at the end! I also don't read a lot of mystery either.

While I like John Green books, he definitely has a unique style and it's always a hit or a miss, so I totally get it that you don't like his books. Although The Fault in Our Stars was the only movie I liked better than the book, I think.

  2. I hardly read mystery/crime either, but I can't believe you read the end! Bad bookish practice, July! XD

"they look kind of cheesy in a completely dark way" -- yes, that makes perfect sense, that's how I feel about TMI, too! For a long time I maintained I wouldn't read them, but after a lot of badgering from many different sources, I'm going to give in. Against my better judgement ...

Totally get you RE the covers. The old Harry covers are soo much better.

But nooo, I can't believe you're a Gale shipper! SHOCK.

    1. I know, I know.... I need to put my hands in the oven as punishment to myself xD
But yes, I am indeed a Gale shipper. For the record, I like Peeta too, but Gale definitely takes the cake lol.
